Whether you love him or hate him, we all have to agree that Floyd Mayweather has a huge following which has made him a very rich man. Mayweather is so rich that he even makes LeBron James jealous.
Not don’t worry, I am not going to try and convince to like either of these athletes. I will, however, tell you how rich they are.
Forbes Magazine recently released their list of athletes who made the most money in 2014. Mayweather and James both made the list, but the former beats the latter by a large margin.
Mayweather topped the list for the third time in four years by making $300 million last season, with $285 million of that coming from his yearly salary. James came in at number six making $64.8 million, almost five times less than Mayweather.
Are you kidding me? FIVE TIMES?!? That is a surprising amount of money for a boxer to make in one year with the way the sport has gone downhill in the last decade. But what do I know? Just look at how many people wasted a hundred bucks on the “Fight of the Century” that really turned out to be a huge flop.
Maybe if the NFL started charging for big games like the Super Bowl one of their athletes would have made the top ten. The first NFL player on the list is Ben Roethlisberger at number eleven.
