Money in the Bank predictions and preview

With WWE’s Money in the Bank special event just hours away, there are predictions for the outcome of each match that need to be made. Who will win the Money in the Bank briefcase? Will John Cena get his revenge on the “WWE Rookie” Kevin Owens? Will Seth Rollins be able to climb the ladder and retrieve his WWE World Heavyweight Championship from the unstable hands of Dean Ambrose?

Those questions will be answered RIGHT NOW!

The first thing I will absolutely guarantee to happen is WWE doing a tribute of some sort to The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, who unexpectedly passed away earlier this week. May he rest in peace.

Money in the Bank Kickoff Show bonus match, King Barrett vs R-Truth: King Barrett, formerly known as Bad News Barrett or Wade Barrett, has been surprisingly absent from a lot of WWE television since winning the King of the Ring back in April. The Britishmen won the crown and has been since parading around with his crown and cape claiming that he rules over the land. While many fans believed that this was finally the beginning of his big push and he would be involved with the Money in the Bank ladder match, he has been pushed down the pre-show card to take on easily the biggest clown in WWE.

R-Truth, who just this past Monday claimed he was no longer afraid of ladders, mistakenly believed that he was in the ladder match tonight. After being disappointed and told he wasn’t, he decided to go after the King’s crown. He even wore the cape and crown at Smackdown this past Thursday.

It would certainly be an embarrassment for King Barrett to lose after being humiliated just three days ago. I think he needs to win and I think he will. Hopefully it will begin the push that should have started two months ago.

Divas Championship, Nikki Bella (c) vs Paige: Nikki Bella has held onto the Divas Championship since winning the title at Night of Champions in September. Paige, who burst onto the scene the night after Wrestlemania 30 last April and won the Divas title in her first night on Raw, has been itching to get the title back. She won a number one’s contender battle royal on an episode of Raw in April, but never received her one on one match after being attacked by Naomi who turned on her and subsequently became a villain or “heel” in the process.

There has been signs of a Bella heel turn since her and her twin sister Brie used “twin magic”, where the two switch places in the middle of the match to give the other an advantage, to steal a victory over Paige a few weeks ago. Nikki is inching dangerously close to AJ Lee’s record of 295 days as Divas Champion and a lot of fans don’t want to see the record broken, me included. I think Nikki has overstayed her welcome at the top of Divas division and I see Paige finally getting the strap back. Expect to see Brie try to get involved and maybe even a surprise debut by NXT diva Charlotte to assist Paige.

Intercontinental Championship, Ryback (c) vs Big Show: Ryback finally won his first championship in WWE when he won the vacant Intercontinental Championship at Elimination Chamber just two weeks ago. The very next night on Raw, he was defending the title against The Miz when “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show returned after a two-month absence and knocked out The Miz and told the champ that he would be the only person getting a title shot.

Now, he gets it and it is truly confusing to me. I get the Big Guy vs the Giant concept, but Show has been around for way too long. Why slump Ryback with him now? Anyway, I think Ryback has too much momentum and it would be a STUPID decision for the company to take the belt off of him right now. Ryback wins and Ryback rules.

WWE Tag Team Championship, The New Day (c) vs The Prime Time Players: The New Day — consisting of Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kofi Kingston — shocked the wrestling world by winning the tag titles from Tyson Kidd and Cesaro a few months ago and they have been attempting to spread the Power of Positivity to the WWE Universe to no avail for weeks. Even when asking the fans to clap along with them, the fans still fill the arena with the chant “NEW…DAY SUCKS” to anger the champions.

Titus O’Neil and Darren Young rehashed their old tag of the Prime Time Players a few months ago and they have been on a roll ever since. After being one of the final two teams in the Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber match two weeks ago, they finally get a two-on-two title shot against the New Day.

O’Neil also won Celebrity Father of the Year recently, so all signs of the PTP winning the titles seems to be pretty good.

The New Day doesn’t have Kingston to assist them tonight as he will be busy preparing for the Money in the Bank match, so this should be a fair match. With the heel pairing of Woods and Big E, it’s still possible that they could steal the victory, but I see O’Neil and Young knocking off the champions and celebrating their title win with their “Millions of Dollars” dance in the middle of the ring.

John Cena vs Kevin Owens: John Cena has been out of the main event picture for months now and it seems like it will stay that way even after tonight. Cena did the unthinkable and beat Rusev for the United States Championship at Wrestlemania 31 in March. Ever since then, he has been coming out every night on Raw and issuing an open challenge for the title which has brought loads of prestige back to the championship. Superstars like former NXT Champions Neville and Sami Zayn have answered the challenge and come close to knocking off The Champ.

Another man that has stepped up to the plate is current NXT Champion Kevin Owens.

Owens debuted in NXT in December and attacked his real life best friend Zayn, who had just won the NXT Title. Two months afterwards, he beat Zayn for the championship and has reigned supreme ever since. While he did not have a match for the US Title against Cena because he claimed he “already has a prize” in the NXT Title, he did challenge Cena to a match at Elimination Chamber.

Owens did the unthinkable and beat Cena cleanly, which doesn’t happen very often, and they proceeded to berate Cena for not being a real man which prompted Cena to ask for a rematch. Owens is going to be the next big thing in WWE and having him lose to Cena tonight would hurt his character. I see Owens winning the match, but expect the victory not to come as cleanly as it did two weeks ago.

Money in the Bank Ladder match, Randy Orton vs Neville vs Roman Reigns vs Sheamus vs Kane vs Dolph Ziggler vs Kofi Kingston:
Rumors have been flying around this match for a few weeks, notably around Roman Reigns. Reigns was in the main event at Wrestlemania and seemed to be close to winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship before Seth Rollins raced down to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase that he won at this event last year. A lot of people believe that Reigns is a shoe-in to win the briefcase tonight and I believe differently.

Irish superstar Sheamus returned after a lengthy absence from the company due to a shoulder injury the night after Wrestlemania back in March. With a new look and attitude, the Celtic Warrior seems to be in prime position to climb the ladder and claim the briefcase as his own.

Despite chants of “You look stupid” filling the arena every time he steps out from behind the curtain, you can’t deny that Sheamus has been on a roll as of late and he finally seems to have found himself at the top of the food chain.

While Sheamus may be grabbing the briefcase, you can also expect to see crazy dives from Kofi Kingston and The New Sensation Neville and lots or metal being cracked off people’s skulls.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship ladder match, Seth Rollins (c) vs Dean Ambrose: Ambrose won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship two weeks ago at Elimination Chamber, but the decision was reversed after it was determined Rollins had purposefully pulled the referee into harm’s way and was disqualified. Titles in WWE can not change hands as result of a disqualification, so Ambrose won, but Rollins kept the title.

Ambrose was not happy with this so he, along with former Shield brother, Roman Reigns took out Rollins and The Authority and Ambrose walked out with the championship in hand.

He has been a thorn in Rollins’ side ever since walking out with the championship. From stealing a police van to costing Rollins a match against his own security team, Ambrose has done all he could to get in the head of the champion. After Rollins alienated The Authority and caused them to leave him to do things on his own, it would appear that Ambrose is on his way to winning the championship.

I can tell you now that the WWE is very predictable and with the way rumors get out nowadays, it is hard to not believe them. Reigns has been rumored to make a heel turn and join Rollins for weeks now. What better time than to cost Ambrose the match, join up with the other member of what was The Shield, and start a feud that people have been dying to see for months on end? That is exactly how I see things going down, but it won’t be long before former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar comes seeking revenge on Rollins and wants his title back.
