Texas will sell beer and wine at football games this season

Sporting events and alcohol go hand-in-hand, much like Texas and football go great together. College students love having a beer, or six, while watching a football game. Now, visitors to Darrell K. Royal – Memorial Football Stadium will be able to enjoy a beer while watching Longhorn football this season.

It was announced by College Football Talk on Wednesday afternoon that the University of Texas has finally approved the sell of beer and wine at football games after years of it being a topic of discussion.

Greg Fenves, the new president of the university, gave his support of the sell of beer and wine a few weeks ago and it is now official.

Texas had already began selling beer at other athletic events last year, but the school was still evaluating the process of selling beer at football games. Texas now joins Iowa State and West Virginia as other Big 12 schools to sell beer. Texas is the fourth school in the state to begin selling beer with Houston, SMU, and North Texas all beating the Longhorns to the punch.

It seems safe to say that the 2015 football season will be a great one for the Longhorns. Regardless of if the team goes 12-0 or 0-12, most fans will probably not remember it as they will be able to drown their sorrows in Bud Light this fall.
