If you are as big of wrestling fan as I am, which I highly doubt is possible, you know that many professional athletes love to make appearances at the shows whenever they are in their team’s town. Johnny Manziel of the Cleveland Browns was the most recent athlete to show his face on Monday Night Raw and was even called Johnny Idiot Face by WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
At these shows, you usually see at least one champion making their way down to the ring with their belt around their waist or over their shoulder. That gives a lot of these athletes ideas. Green Bay Packer linebacker Clay Matthews was the pioneer of the trend of celebrating with a WWE title belt after winning the sport’s championship at the end of the season.
Most recently, the Chicago Blackhawks celebrated with a replica WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green took things one step further and got a custom championship belt made. This picture shared by BroBible shows just how cool wrestling belts can be.
The biggest championship in WWE used to have the champion’s name plastered at the bottom of the gold face plate. Now, the belt features two side plates that are interchangeable. The side plates are changed every time a new champion is crowned and replaced with the logo or symbol of the new champion. For Daniel Bryan, it was his catchphrase “YES”. For Brock Lesnar, it was his back tattoo that has been a staple in much of his merchandise. For current champion Seth Rollins, it is the stylized form of his initials “SR”.
For Green it’s the light blue and yellow logo that features the Golden Gate Bridge. These are easily the most badass side plates I have seen.
Every wrestling fan dreams of having their own championship belt. I just recently purchased my championship belt myself and I absolutely love it. Now, I just need to know who Green knows on the inside to get my very own custom belt.
