Once again, Reddit user eharvey328 has went to work on another conference’s color schemes. This time, he headed back down to the south to try and get back in the good graces of the fans by mashing the ACC teams’ colors with their biggest rivals.
Imgur has the original slideshow and the one thing I can say is that North Carolina’s colors only work with North Carolina. That stretches across three schools and there’s a reason why the color is called Columbia blue.
I know I said the Tar Heels’ colors don’t work with any other team, but Duke’s colors are actually pretty cool on UNC. Maybe it’s just the Duke fan in me making an appearance, but I really like the royal blue and black on UNC. It kind of fits them.
One color scheme that not only hurt to see, but also changes the school’s mascot completely is Louisville with Kentucky’s colors. They can’t even be called the Cardinals if they were blue and white. They would be the Louisville Blue Jays and that just doesn’t sound right.
My personal favorite is a big in-state rivalry for me. Georgia Tech and Georgia’s rivalry has been described as “Good, Old Fashioned Hate.” That would certainly ring true if Bulldog or Yellow Jacket fans saw the defending ACC Coastal champions new color scheme.
All of these rivalry color swaps are pretty neat and I hope that this guy continues to do more. Who wouldn’t want to see Army in Navy’s colors? That would separate two branches of the military completely!
