Texas QB commit remains atop Elite 11 rankings

Yesterday, we brought the interesting story about Texas Longhorns quarterback commit Shane Buechele showing off some sick football-dribbling skills at The Opening. Today, he proved that he not only is good at being a party act, but he can also show off on the football field as well.

Buechele is still ranked atop the Elite 11 performance rankings after today’s workouts. He remained in the top spot going into Day 4 of the competition and it’s pretty apparent that he will continue to lead the pack.

ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer runs the Elite 11 competition and has had nothing but high praise for Buechele. That’s pretty impressive coming from a Superbowl winning quarterback.

More from Dilfer: Said of Texas commit Shane Buechele's mechanics, "literally, it’s Aaron Rodgers. It’s Drew Brees good."

The Longhorns seem to have a terrific quarterback on their hands and with Charlie Strong at the helm of this team going forward, it shouldn’t be too long before Texas is a powerhouse once again.

Also, it has been said in the past that the northeastern part of the United States don’t really produce great quarterbacks. Looking at the top four of the rankings, I think that can now be laid to rest. Besides Buechele who is from Texas, Pennsylvania’s Anthony Russo, Maryland’s Dwayne Haskins, and Tennessee commit Jarrett Guarantano from New Jersey round out the top four.
