Grooveshark co-founder dead at 28

Earlier this year, Grooveshark, an engineer in generating music playlists, had to shut down its site due to the evolving presence of the copyright infringement laws. Grooveshark’s parent company, Escape Media Group, distributed $75 million to major record labels, including Sony and Universal.

Now the company faces even more adversity in losing one of its founding leaders, Josh Greenberg, to death. Greenberg’s body was discovered in his Florida apartment yesterday afternoon.

Considering his lifestyle, Greenberg didn’t partake in any illegal substances and didn’t appear to have any suicidal tendencies prior to his death, according to his mother, Lori. In addition, the police department further confirmed those details and, in addition, suspect no foul play in Greenberg’s death.

While studying at the University of Florida in business administration, Josh Greenberg formed Grooveshark with Sam Tarantino in 2006. In other business ventures, Greenberg initiated a start-up in Florida called TapShield, which sent out alerts via mobile devices about crimes or other suspicious activity.
