WWE star Daniel Bryan reveals all in new autobiography

Professional wrestlers are not shy to taking to the world of literature. From Hulk Hogan to The Rock to Kurt Angle to the late Eddie Guerrero, many past and present WWE superstars have written autobiographies.

Former WWE World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan is the latest to have a story on his life released to the public. In the book, Bryan shares many stories like the time he was fired from WWE his first night on Raw and the way he had to come fight The Authority as the underdog to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 30 in 2014.

Fox Sports took a look at the autobiography titled “YES! My Improbable Journey to the Main Event of Wrestlemania” and came up with a list of ten surprising things fans may have not known about the superstar.

1. The first time Bryan tried to have sex with then-girlfriend, now-wife, Brie Bella, two fellow WWE superstars, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Sheamus, interrupted the moment.

From the book: “We were naked and about to do our thing when all of a sudden we heard the sound of the door handle turning and then the door popped open. Bri jumped under the covers as Teddy and Sheamus barged into the room, inebriated as can be, wit the ‘Ahhh fella!’ and all that.”

Yep, that pretty much seems like Bad Luck Bryan. DB has had a string of bad luck with injuries. In 2014, just a month after he won the World Championship, he had to give it up due to a neck injury. He won the Intercontinental Title in March at Wrestlemania 31 and again had to surrender the title just weeks later due to the same injury.

Apparently his bad luck wasn’t just inside the ring.

4. Two of the names Bryan, whose real name is Bryan Danielson, considered using before settling on Daniel Bryan were “Buddy Peacock” and “Lloyd Boner.”

I actually knew this before reading the list of revelations. “Lloyd Boner” would have sent him straight to the midcard and jobber range in the first two weeks of his WWE career and rabid Danielson fans from Ring of Honor would have had a riot. Also, “Buddy Peacock” would not have long hair and a scruffy beard. He would be wearing sunglasses inside, capri pants, and his hair would be slicked back with a douchey monocle on his face.

8. Bryan was supposed to wrestle Charlie Sheen at SummerSlam in 2012, but the match never happened.

From the book: “He was going through a very public breakdown at the time, and somehow WWE brokered a deal for him to perform against me. He taped a couple of videos for ‘Raw’ insulting me, and even though it was a goofy match to be in, it would’ve put me in one of the top matches at SummerSlam. Unfortunately, whoever brokered the Sheen deal never got him to sign any sort of contract to do the event, and in typical Charlie Sheen fashion, he bailed.”

Okay, I don’t know if that would have pissed me off or made me very happy. I mean, I don’t even think Sheen would be sober enough to get in the ring with Bryan. Even if he was, Bryan would have kicked him drunk so fast, people would have felt bad for Charlie.

This list has truly made me want to go out and purchase Bryan’s book and I am sure I will do it rather soon. Bryan may never step foot in a wrestling ring ever again, but at least we will have this memory of him forever.
