Pat Birt has ‘an angel watching’ him after car crash

Car wrecks are never a fun thing to go through. For what seems like an eternity, you have no idea if you are going to live or die. I have never been in a rollover crash and I never intend to be, but to get out of them alive is nothing short of a miracle.

Tulsa basketball player Pat Birt thinks that exact thing after his car crash on Sunday left him with nothing but scratches.

Birt tweeted out some pretty scary photos of the aftermath of the crash. After looking at the photos, you really wonder how in the world he survived.

Wow, that is certainlys some pretty scary stuff.

Birt committed to play for the Golden Hurricane back in October of last year and right now, it doesn’t seem like this car wreck will affect his playing time at all. Birt will be a junior going into the 2015 season.

Birt began his college career at the Division I level, playing one season at University of Illinois-Chicago. He left UIC and played one season at South Plains College before ultimately deciding to join Tulsa last fall.

The Golden Hurricane last made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2014, but they haven’t advanced past the second round since 2000. That year, the Golden Hurricane advanced as far as they have ever been when they made it to the Elite Eight as a seven seed.

Will Birt and his angel be able to take Tulsa back into basketball prominence? We will have to wait until November to find out.
