Big Ten’s 11-strong “Players to Watch” list released

Usually, you hear of the college football conferences releasing full lists of preseason all-conference teams. These lists usually include one player from each position on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

The Big Ten likes to do things just a little bit differently.

According to College Football Talk, the Big Ten released something it calls a “Players to Watch” list. The list features six teams from the West division and five teams from the East. The West got six players due to a tie.

The list of eleven players consists of six defensive players and five offensive players. I will give you two guesses as to who the one quarterback was.

Did you say Cardale Jones or JT Barrett? Sorry, you would be wrong.

EAST DIVISION
Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
Shilique Calhoun, DE, Michigan State
Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
Anthony Zettel, DT, Penn State

WEST DIVISION
Drew Ott, DE, Iowa
Maliek Collins, DT, Nebraska
De’Mornay Pierson-El, WR, Nebraska
Justin Jackson, RB, Northwestern
Michael Caputo, S, Wisconsin
Corey Clement, RB, Wisconsin

I am not at all surprised that Connor Cook made the list from Michigan State. He has been considered by many to be the top quarterback in the 2016 NFL Draft class. My only question is, where is Christian Hackenburg?
