WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper dead at 61

WWE has lost another Hall of Famer after Roderick Toombs, better known as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper from the Golden Age of wrestling has passed away from cardiac arrest. This comes as a shock to the wrestling world as Piper had been considered cancer free at the time of his death.

TMZ reported that Piper died in his sleep at around noon on Friday at his home in Hollywood. The former Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion was 61.

Piper had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2006, but had been doing much better over the last few years. A family member said that he was cancer free.

Piper was an instrumental part of the WWF during the 1980’s and even squared off against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T at Wrestlemania I in 1985.

We will never forget Piper’s fiery temper and ridiculously over the top Scottish accent. I will personally never forget his infamous coconut incident from a 1984 episode of Piper’s Pit. Words do not it justice.

Rest in Peace, Rowdy. You will be missed.
