Malik Zaire has national championship on his mind

Everett Golson is in Tallahassee and he will not be playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this season. Malik Zaire will be leading the team in South Bend in 2015 and it looks like he already has high aspirations for the season.

College Spun shared a photo of Zaire that shows he is thinking about the national championship for his team this season. That doesn’t seem too much like a crazy idea considering the Associated Press picked the Irish to make the College Football Playoff this season earlier this summer.

Now that is is the BCS National Championship trophy which hasn’t been used since 2014, but it still gets the message across. The Irish are going to have to do something big to make everyone forget the last time they played for that trophy.

They played the BCS National Championship in 2013 when they lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide 42-14. The team hasn’t won a national title since 1988 when Lou Holtz was still with the team.

The Irish open the season when they host the Texas Longhorns on September 5.
