Florida State safety Tyler Hunter is going to be a key piece of the Seminoles’ defensive backfield this season. While he has been hard at work perfecting his craft as a defensive back this summer, he also seems to have been working on his kicking skills as well.
College Spun shared a video of Hunter nailing a trick shot field goal from about forty-five yards away in the FSU practice facility. A forty-five yard field goal is not easy for most college kickers to hit, so a safety, who doesn’t kick field goals very often or at all really, hitting a field goal from that far out while the ball is spinning is pretty damn phenomenal.
While I am sure Jimbo Fisher won’t be allowing Hunter to fill in for Roberto Aguayo this season, and a kick like this isn’t even legal anyway, it is still an impressive feat to watch. Maybe Hunter could start a whole new category of field competitions at the NFL Pro Bowl one day. “Trick Shot Field Goals”
He’d certainly have my vote.
The Seminoles will open the season at home when they host the Texas State Bobcats on September 5.
