Before Jimi Hendrix became the rockstar that he was during the 1960’s, he was a kid. Everybody at some stage was a kid and Hendrix was no different from any other sixteen-year-old boy.
Imgur had a slideshow of some rare drawings that have probably never been seen until they surfaced on Wednesday. The pictures? Hand-drawn sketches by Hendrix himself of USC, Cal, UCLA, and Oregon.
Hendrix, who grew up in Seattle, was apparently a big fan of what was then the Pacific Coast Conference until 1959 and the Athletic Association of Western Universities until 1968. Hendrix grew up emulating greats like OJ Simpson and Mike Garrett.
Who knew that Hendrix had such a talent for drawing? I guess, when you have a mind as great as Hendrix’s you would expect him to be creative.
Sadly, the music world lost Hendrix way too young and I for one wish I would have had a chance to see him play. Thank you, Jimi for what you did for the rock and roll genre today.
