The Cal Golden Bears haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2013, but they are projected to have a good season come this November. The Golden Bears are expected to be a preseason Top 25 team and that means they are expected to do well.
The team released it’s non-conference schedule and it looks pretty tough with at least three match-ups against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams. San Jose Mercury News shared the schedule on Tuesday afternoon.
The team opens the season on November 13 when they host Rice. They host three more home games before the Thanksgiving break. The host UC Santa Barbara on November 16, East Carolina on November 20, and Sam Houston State on November 23.
The Golden Bears then play the San Diego State Aztecs on November 28 to open the Las Vegas Invitational. They will play either Richmond or West Virginia in the second round.
The team opens December with home games against Seattle, Incarnate Wood, and Coppin State as well as a tough road game against Wyoming on December 5. The team then closes out the non-conference schedule with arguably their two toughest games on the slate as they play at defending ACC champion Virginia on the 22 and play host to Davidson, alma mater to Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry, on the 28.
