The NFL preseason is the more lackluster time of the football season. While everyone is excited to finally have football back, there’s really not much to be said for the preseason. Yeah, it’s football, but usually, you may see the starters for the first quarter at most and then it’s really a bunch of guys you won’t see throughout the regular season.
I don’t know why, but for some reason, Telemundo, the largest Spanish television network in the United States, was broadcasting Thursday night’s Green Bay Packers-New England Patriots game. While some may believe this could have been a very early preview to the Super Bowl, the Telemundo announcer may have thought it WAS the Super Bowl.
USA TODAY’s For the Win shared a video of the announcer calling a seemingly routine field goal by Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby, like he had just made World Cup-winning penalty kick. While it will be appreciated that the guy is excited for American football, somebody ought to tell him that the game means absolutely nothing.
While his call was way over-the-top and not really necessary, it was still entertaining as heck. Now that I think about it, maybe some of the American commentators should go all-out like this guy did. It may make even the most boring of games watchable.
