It was announced Friday morning that four-star wide receiver Cordell Broadus, also known as rapper Snoop Dogg’s son, would be leaving the UCLA football team. While details on the reason for Broadus’s departure have not surfaced, it was said that he felt “pushed” by his dad to play football and he wanted “to do his own thing.”
According to Bruin Report Online, head coach Jim Mora commented on the player and confirmed that Broadus had indeed left the team and would not, for the foreseeable future, be returning. The statement came just hours after Broadus made his decision to leave the Bruins.
“Cordell informed me yesterday that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life – in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions. Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA.”
Broadus will continue to be a student at UCLA as he had already began taking summer classes at the school. While it may not be exactly what his father would have wanted, I’m happy to see Broadus chasing after his own personal dreams.
Good luck to you in the future.
