Things are about to get ugly for the USC Trojans football program and head coach Steve Sarkisian. Just over a week before the start of the season, the program has a distraction thanks to the head coach getting drunk and spouting off expletives and ripping rivals during a private function.
As a result of his actions — which he has since apologized for — TMZ is reporting that “several high-powered alums and boosters calling for the school to fire the coach.”
This is the last thing USC needs to be dealing with as they prepare to enter a season where they could contend for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
“I’ve been getting a flurry of phone calls this morning from people who want him out. They feel he’s an embarrassment to the program and the community,” one USC source told the celebrity gossip website.
While others will be forgiving towards Sarkisian and chalk it up as a simple mistake that he made and has since apologized for, we know how powerful boosters can be.
If the TMZ report is correct and USC boosters truly want the university to move on from Sarkisian, he could soon be on the outs.
This is going to be very interesting to watch as the season approaches.
