The Syracuse Orange and Georgetown Hoyas have not met on the basketball court since the 2013 Big East Championship game. This is because, following that season, the Orange made the permanent move to the ACC and the two teams haven’t been able to schedule a non-conference match-up since.
According to College Basketball Talk, that is all about to change.
The Hoyas and Orange are scheduled to renew their rivalry on December 5 this season. The game this year will is the beginning of a four-year series the teams agreed upon last summer.
The Hoyas host the Orange this year and in 2017, while the roles are reversed for 2016 and 2018. This isn’t the only match-up with a former Big East opponent the Orange have this year, as they will play St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on December 13.
The Hoyas also begin a home-and-home series with UConn, who are now in the AAC, on January 23. The Hoyas currently trail the Orange in their all-time series 49-41.
The basketball season is starting to get its feet underneath it and it will be here before you know it.
