Video: Grambling State band gives amazing halftime show

Despite an embarrassing 73-14 whooping by Jared Goff and the California Golden Bears, Grambling State does have something to celebrate: it’s marching Tigers.

Coined “The Best Band in the Land” from the time Grambling State’s former band director, Conrad Hutchinson, would sculpt banshees into elite musicians when he arrived on campus in 1952.

About a decade and a half later – then known as Grambling College – Conrad Hutchinson’s group of instrumentalists were the chosen entertainers for both Super Bowl I and IX.

Sporting high-knee jerking and a trumpet savvy section, the Grambling State marching band has one of the best brass and percussion sections in the country.

But enough digressing. Let the melodies and accents of the marching Tigers flow gracefully in and out of your ears.

Cal Marching Band’s “Digital Get Down”

Probably one of the most beautiful illustrations of any marching band – high school, college or drum corps – was the Cal Bears “Video Game Show” that remasters vintage gameplay nostalgia in Tetris, Pokemon and Super Mario World.
