FAU loses top defensive player for rest of 2015 season

The Florida Atlantic Owls have never been known as being in the elite of the college football world. Their latest injury news isn’t going to help their cause at all for the 2015 season.

According to College Football Talk, the Owls learned that linebacker Robert Relf will be forced to take a medical redshirt for his junior season. This is due to a nagging shoulder injury that occurred during summer camp and forced him to miss the remainder of the game last Saturday against Tulsa.

Relf has been one of the Owls’ best defensive players over the last few seasons. In 2013, he played in six games as a freshman and he started eleven last year. He was fourth on the team with 65 tackles, which was the second best among returning starters for 2015.

The Owls play the Miami Hurricanes on Friday and they sure could have used Relf’s athleticism.

Campus Sports would like to wish Relf a full and speedy recovery.
