It was reported earlier this week that the Texas Longhorns would charge the Rice marching band $100 per person when they travel to Austin on Saturday. This caused an uproar among the Rice band members to the point of them announcing that they would not travel to Darrel K. Royal Memorial Stadium.
According to an update on Horn Sports, Texas Athletic Director Steve Patterson has comped 300 tickets to the Rice band for this weekend’s game. The Longhorns agreed to also comp 300 tickets to the California Golden Bears for their band in next Saturday’s game in Austin.
ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt tweeted at Patterson asking about the situation. He said that all teams within the Big 12 charge each other to come attend the games.
@notthefakeSVP All Big 12 teams charge each other for tickets for the band or fans.UT was charged & paid last year.

At least the Longhorns owned up to their mistake. Good for the Rice band that they will be able play for the fans at the stadium.
