After their dominant win over Texas in the first week of the season, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish looked to continue making a case for the College Football Playoff as they took on the ACC’s Virginia in Charlottesville. They got things going early as quarterback Malik Zaire led his team down the field and inside the ten of the Cavaliers.
The drive stalled and the Irish seemed to be attempting a relatively short field goal. That’s when backup quarterback and holder DeShone Kizer faked the “Bayou” play that LSU made so famous and flipped a shuttle pass to tight end Durham Smythe who raced into the endzone for the score.
The Irish unsuccessfully attempted a two-point conversion and are 6-0. They just got the ball back after forcing a punt against the Cavaliers.
It looks like Brian Kelly is taking pointers from his fellow Kelly, Chip.
