In football, kickers are usually seen as one of the most irrelevant position players in the sport. I have to respectfully disagree with that as they sometimes play a huge role in the game. They can win or lose a game for a team. Just ask Mississippi State.
Punters are relatively useless outside of coming in for one play and kicking a ball down the field. I get that they can pin a team back and force a big defensive stand, but other than that, they don’t make much of an impact.
On Saturday, Division III Chapman University played Linfield College. The former team, known as the Panthers, were setting up to punt the ball away. Sophomore punter William James then reminded me and everyone why punters can be relevant when they need to be.
An acting job well done by that kid. If he doesn’t have a future in the NFL, which there is a high chance of, I could see James getting into Hollywood for sure. That’s a great movie star name anyway.
