As a college quarterback who is making his first start for the team, it must be pretty hectic. It only gets even more hectic when you are starting for an elite program like the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Perry Orth gets to experience what that feels like this Saturday when he leads the Gamecocks out onto the field against the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens. For his first start coming in an environment like Athens in a rivalry game must be really nerve-wracking, so it must be nice to know that you have some pretty talented guys backing you up.
According to College Spun, three former starting Gamecock quarterbacks called Orth this week to try and give him a little encouragement before he takes the field on Saturday. That must be a little calming to know that you have these guys backing you up.
Orth saw a lot of playing time last week against Kentucky after Connor Mitch went down with an early injury. Orth was 13-20 with 179 yards and touchdown against an interception.
With so many people backing him up this week, will Orth crumble under the pressure or will he rise to the occasion and be able to lead his team to the upset?
