Syracuse has an awesome pregame ritual

Pregame rituals are pretty sacred. A lot of teams always participate in some king of walk. Whether it’s the “Dawg Walk”, “Tiger Walk”, or “Eagle Walk”. The walk is usually filled with all kinds of fans cheering and chanting for their team and the players are usually reacting.

The Syracuse Orange football team have a much different type of ritual. According to Campus Rush, the Orange players get together as a team and stroll the campus without saying a word.

The ritual always ends with the team paying their respects to Syracuse great Ernie Davis. It is pretty awesome.

“Just a little quiet time before the game,” senior cornerback Julian Whigham said. “Just to think about and visualize everything that might happen.”

“They (players) wanted to do it and I told them, ‘I don’t know if anybody will see us walking through, nor do I care,'” SU head coach Scott Shafer said. “The whole purpose was to take a second, get off the bus, take the short walk up to the quad, look at our beautiful campus and school, and take a second to reflect on how lucky we are to be playing this game at this institution.”

What an awesome way to start a gameday.
