Illinois court logo features Lou Henson’s orange blazer

Lou Henson will forever be remembered as one of the best coaches of in all of Illinois basketball history. During his time with the team from 1975-1996, he won 423 games, while making twelve NCAA Tournament appearances and a Final Four appearance in 1989.

The Illini has decided to show him the ultimate sign of respect by renaming the court at the State Farm Center after him. According to College Spun, Henson’s name isn’t the only thing that will appear on the court.

Henson was known for wearing a bright orange blazer that matches the color of the Illini during his time in Champaign. It too makes an appearance on the cool new logo at the home of the Illini.

What a great way to honor the legendary coach. The Illini host their first game on the newly-christened “Lou Henson Court” on December 2 when they host Notre Dame as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
