UNC WR unhappy with fans’ attendance at home games

To say the least, basketball is the more loved sport when it comes to things in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels have been more relevant in basketball over football for years and both teams take notice of that.

The fans also seem to realize that as they usually show up in droves at the Dean Dome as opposed to Kenan Memorial Stadium. According to College Spun, one UNC wide receiver is not happy with how the fans show up for their games. Bug Howard even made an interesting suggestion to fix the team’s attendance problems.

Maybe if we did a Men's basketball pick up game at halftime of our games maybe people will show up? Will you?

In the team’s two home games this season against North Carolina A&T and Illinois, there have been attendance numbers of 44,000 and 41,000 respectively. Being that the stadium holds 63,000 people, those numbers aren’t very good at all.

Howard’s suggestion was certainly a joke as he was venting his frustrations, but a pickup basketball game that features some of the team’s players probably wouldn’t be a terrible idea. In the end, the best way to get more people to attend games is to simply go out and win.

A big blowout win over Delaware this weekend would probably help pick things up as the Tar Heels head into ACC play. The game is slated to begin at 12 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
