Earlier this month, Rutgers wide receiver Leonte Carroo was accused of slamming a woman onto the concrete during a fight on campus. He was subsequently suspended as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to NJ.com, Carroo’s lawyers brought forth two cell phone videos of the fight that they hope will help exonerate their client. The fight was shot near the Hale Center on Rutgers’s campus on September 12. While the videos are dark, you can see who appears to be Carroo pulling a female out of the fight and not getting involved in any other way.
Carroo’s lawyers plan to bring in witnesses from the fight to testify on his behalf.
“William Fetky, Carroo’s attorney in Family Court, said that Leonte Carroo isn’t even in the first video, which shows a group of people arguing outside the Hale Center. The second video was taken about 10 to 15 minutes later, Fetky said. It shows that Vega was surrounded and attacked by women who worked for Rutgers recruiting, Fetky said. The alleged victim approaches the scrum and swung a purse at Vega, who was wearing white pants, Fetky said.
“The two videos, which took place about 10 to 15 minutes apart, were combined into the one video above by NJ Advance Media, lasting about 16 seconds in total.
“Fetky said the second video later shows Carroo grabbing Vega and taking her away from the fight to protect her, but added that Carroo never touched the victim.”
