With conference play just starting to heat up, it’s best to believe that there will be a ton of people giving a prediction for the College Football Playoff. Heck, there has already been final four predictions from the beginning of the year, but you can expect even more to come now that some teams are starting to pull away in their respective divisions.
On his website, Phil Steele gave his projected final four and it is as loaded with talent as you would believe. He actually gives the Big 12 a nod in Baylor making the playoff.
He say that the Bears have looked very good on defense since their game against SMU and their offense is always good.
The (TCU) Frogs defense is so beat up Baylor is figured to be the favorites in that game. They are playing with a chip on their shoulder and could very well be favored in the rest of their games.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are obviously a favorite simply because they are the defending national champions. However, I think their tough remaining schedule could be their ultimate downfall.
He says that the winner of the Alabama/Georgia game would represent the SEC, which is pretty redundant. Georgia has a great chance of making it in even at 11-1, but I just can’t see Alabama making it past LSU, even if it is a home game.
USC is a tough pick as well. They are already at a disadvantage with their loss to Stanford and they still have Notre Dame and UCLA. Those two matchups are going to be pivotal in deciding who makes it in or not.
He leaves Notre Dame, LSU, Ole Miss, and Michigan State on the outside looking in among six others.
