On Monday, it was reported that Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott’s family dog was missing. He tweeted out a photo of the dog that had a phone number with his name on it and some fans took that and ran with it.
According to College Spun, a bunch of fans thought the number was Elliott’s, so they began texting him. Only, it wasn’t Elliott, it was his parents. His mom didn’t appreciate some of the rude comments fans were making towards her son, so she let them know about it on Twitter.
shoutout to all of the jackasses that REALLY believed Ezekiel's phone# was tweeted. most of the texts received were quite amusing!

even if that was his phone# he wouldn't have text back. everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even jackasses https://t.co/O0lYtGSd7Q

for the many who text and wished him a good season… thank you! we will pass along your sentiments to Ezekiel!

One text to the number said “Hey Elliott, Fournette is better than you.” That’s kind of harsh to text someone, even if it is true in the eyes of many members of the media.
Elliott is still an awesome talent and fans should know now that they don’t mess with him. I wouldn’t want his mom on the hunt for me either.
On another note: the dog has since been found and returned to the family.
