The Louisville Cardinals have been getting some pretty good news lately as two big pieces of their defense stars have already stated that would return to school for their senior season. Thursday morning, another key defensive player announced he would return for one more season with the Cardinals.
According to Bleacher Report’s Luke Easterling, edge rusher Devonte Fields, who was projected to be a late second-round pick for the 2016 NFL Draft this April, will return to school for his senior season.
Fields, a TCU transfer, was one of the Cardinals’ biggest pieces for their defense in the 2015 season. He recorded 63 tackles, 22 for loss, 10.5 sacks, as well as two forced fumbles.
With Fields returning alongside defensive backs Shaq Wiggins and Josh Harvey-Clemons, the Cardinals should be able to compete in the ACC for the 2016 season.
