Kevin Clune hired as DC at Oregon State, reunites with Gary Andersen

Just a month after Kalani Sitake became the new head coach at BYU, the Oregon State Beavers have found their new defensive coordinator and he is one very familiar with head coach Gary Andersen.

According to College Football Talk, former Utah State defensive coordinator Kevin Clune has been hired to the same position with the Beavers. Clune and Andersen should be able to bring a good bit of camaraderie to Corvallis as the two have worked together before.

Andersen was the head coach of the Aggies from 2009-2013, where Clune served under him as the defensive coordinator. The two also worked together at Utah and Southern Utah in 2001 and 2002 respectively.

“Coach Clune has been with me a number of years and I’m excited that he will once again be on my coaching staff,” Andersen said. “He is a proven recruiter, tactician, and shares our philosophy about developing and changing the lives of student-athletes.”

This should end up being a great hire for the Beavers as the two have chemistry with each other. They certainly hope it works out as the Beavers look to turn things around after going 2-10 in 2015.
