The San Francisco 49ers had the season many expected them to have after hiring Jim Tomsula as head coach. The team went 5-11 and fired Tomsula after just one season and it looks like they could have their new head coach fairly soon.
According to reports, 49ers’ owner Jed York is in Cincinnati today to interview Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. The team could possibly hire Jackson by the end of the day to be their next head coach.
Right now, Jackson has other options as he has been considered for the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching position as well. The 49ers have also considered other options for the head coaching position, including former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.
Jackson has been in the NFL since 2001, serving stints as the offensive coordinator with the Bengals, Washington Redskins, Atlanta Falcons, and Oakland Raiders. He was also the Raiders’ head coach in 2011, posting an 8-8 record.
