The basketball world was rocked with the news of former Butler great Andrew Smith passing away after a two-year long battle with cancer. The Bulldogs have mourned the loss all week and they hope to bounce back strong in his honor.
The team is hosting St. John’s at Hinkle Fieldhouse and prior to the game, they honored Smith with a touching tribute video.

The team was also out in number 44 warmup shirts prior to the game and it was a pretty special sight to behold.

Smith will go down as one of the greatest players to ever suit up for the Bulldogs. He helped lead them to two straight national championship game appearances, scored over 1,000 points, and was an Academic All-American.
He will truly be missed by all of those involved in the Butler basketball family.
Rest in peace, Andrew.
