Former Syracuse quarterback AJ Long looked to have a pretty good career ahead of him with the Orange. Due to a series of concussions, Long was medically disqualified just a few games into the 2015 season.
He asked for and received a release from his scholarship and he planned to transfer pending his clearance. He received that clearance and announced he would be transferring to the FCS to continue his career at Wagner on Saturday.
It is Official that I will continue the pursuit of getting a great education and playing football at Wagner College. I want to thank everyone for the support, and motivation over these past months. Thank you to Wagner for giving me another opportunity. I won’t be doing any interviews, for now I just want to focus on my education, and building relationship with my teammates and coaches. Thank You. Let’s go Hawks #S4G
During his freshman season in 2014, Long played in six games and threw for 935 yards with four touchdowns and eight interceptions. He did not play in 2015 and should have three years of eligibility left, which will start in 2016.
