The Jacksonville State Gamecocks had a highly successful season in 2015. The team went 10-1 in the regular season with their only loss being to the Auburn Tigers and then advanced to the national championship where they fell to North Dakota State, 37-10.
A big part of their success this season was quarterback Eli Jenkins, who will be returning for the 2016 season. It looks like he may be dealing with some off-the-field issues after it was reported by The Anniston Star that he was arrested following a 9-1-1 call about a domestic violence case.
Campus police Chief Shawn Giddy said Jenkins was arrested early Wednesday morning just before 1 a.m. A 22-year-old woman called the police after the incident and it was reported that Jenkins was sober, unarmed, uninjured and did not resist arrest.
At least Jenkins cooperated, which should allow him to be let off pretty easily. I would still expect some sort of punishment from the team for the star quarterback.
