Former four-star DB Jefferie Gibson to transfer from Clemson

The Clemson Tigers have lost a number of talented defensive players to the NFL this season. They are trying to build their defense back up to what it was in 2015, but they will have to do it without another player that could have been a key part to their success.

According to Tigernet.com, defensive back Jefferie Gibson is planning to transfer for the 2016 season. He made this decision after not having a big role throughout the Tigers undefeated run to the College Football Playoff.

Gibson came to Clemson as a four-star member of their 2014 class. He redshirted in 2014 and then played a backup role at safety in 2015, recording six tackles during the season.

He was expected to be one of the biggest players in the Tigers’ secondary for the 2016 season, but he will likely be a big part of any team’s success when he decides on his new home.
