Northwest Missouri State football player found dead in dorm

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats celebrated their second national championship in three years this season, but their celebration ended up being a short-lived one. On Sunday, junior defensive end Nicholas Turner was found dead in his dorm room.

The school announced the tragic news with a press release Sunday afternoon and invited students to a gathering Monday night. This is the second student that has been found dead on the campus in a month after freshman Haily Hayes was found on January 17.

During the 2015 season with the Bearcats, Nicholas Turner had a rather decent season. He recorded 22 tackles and a sack, which came in the national championship game against Shepherd.

The school is looking into the death, but there is no foul play suspected.

Campus Sports would like to send its condolences to the Turner family and the entire Bearcat nation.
