Notre Dame confirms transfer of TE Tyler Luatua

On Sunday, it was rumored that Notre Dame tight end Tyler Luatua would be transferring out of the school for the 2016 season. It looks like the team has confirmed that they will be without the player, who was predominantly a special teams player for the last two seasons.

He is rumored to be transferring to BYU to continue his career. While the Fighting Irish did not confirm where he would end up, they did confirm that he is transferring.

Luatua will have to sit out the 2016 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, but would have two years of eligibility left for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The former three-star recruit of the team’s 2014 class started three games in his career at Notre Dame, but was used mostly as a blocker for the run game as he recorded no stats.
