Former Illinois LB T.J. Neal to visit WVU, Auburn

It was announced just last month that the Illinois Fighting Illini would be losing one of their top defensive players to transfer for the 2016 season. Second-leading tackler T.J. Neal announced he would take a grad transfer and it looks like he could be close to making a decision.

When Neal announced his transfer, Illinois head coach Bill Cubit said that the Pennsylvania native “was talking about playing closer to home.” However, according to AL.com’s Brandon Marcello, Neal is set to visit Auburn in the coming weeks.

“Being able to play down there in Alabama, it’s like a dream come true,” Neal told the website. “From my high school, I never thought I’d play at a big-time school like Auburn. To have a chance now, it’s exciting to play against some of the top players in the country.”

Neal is also expected to visit West Virginia soon according to blueandgoldsports.com. The site also reported that Penn State and Pittsburgh are possibly in the running.

Neal recorded 109 tackles, 15 for loss, and two sacks during the 2015 season.
