UAB fans go nuts as freshman sends them over the century mark

The UAB Blazers are one of the best mid-major teams in the country this year and they look like a team that could make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. On Saturday, the team handled Florida Atlantic pretty well, beating them 104-67.

Late in the game, seven-foot French freshman Thomas Smallwood made just his seventh appearance in a game this season. He hit a three-point shot to send his team past the century mark on the scoreboard and the crowd went bananas.

Seeing a college basketball team score triple digits is becoming more common, but it is still a pretty rare sight to see. This was the Blazers’ 20th win of the season and their third time scoring 100 points, so I can see why they were pretty excited.

As for Smallwood, he scored 13 points in the contest, bringing his season total to 33 in just 44 minutes of playing time.
