Texans owner Bob McNair: ‘Four or five’ QBs could fit team

The Houston Texans are one of the many teams that are looking to find a franchise quarterback this offseason. Whether it may be in the NFL Draft or in free agency, they need a great quarterback to lead this team.

Many believe the Texans will wait to possibly take Christian Hackenberg in the second round. This could be a good move for them since he played under the team’s current head coach Bill O’Brien at Penn State.

Earlier this week, Texans’ owner Bob McNair spoke with the Houston Chronicle about his team’s needs this year. He said a big priority is the quarterback position and they have a good number of options to pick from this year.

“There are a number of quarterbacks out there, college quarterbacks coming out and I think we have a good chance at getting one of them,” McNair told the newspaper. “There are four or five of them who look like they have enough talent and size and athletic ability. I don’t know any reason why we wouldn’t be able to do it.”

There’s no telling where the Texans will go in the first round. While unlikely, North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz could be available when they pick at number 22, so that would be a smart selection for them to make.

If not, they could be looking at either Hackenberg or possibly Michigan State’s Connor Cook in the second round.
