Former Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch is expected to be selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Whether he goes in the top ten or later in the round, he will likely find his new home on Day 1 when things get rolling in Chicago.
He was at one point called the best quarterback in the draft this year and he will likely be picked up to be an immediate starter in the league. It looks like he is drawing some pretty big comparisons to the No. 2 overall pick from 2015, Marcus Mariota, from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.
Zierlein wrote on the website that Lynch “possesses the size and athleticism to make NFL teams take a second look” and that he plays a lot like a bigger Mariota. That is great praise for Lynch since Mariota was one of the best rookies during the 2015 season when he wasn’t dealing with an injury.
Right now, many have Lynch being taken by either the Los Angeles Rams or Philadelphia Eagles. Either way, he is going to come in and provide a big spark for whoever is lucky enough to pick him up.
