In sports, ou will get those games that go right down to the wire and make for a very fun night, but then you get games like the one that happened at an Ohio high school Wednesday night.
The Gilmore Academy girls basketball team played Northeast Ohio Prep in the Division III Sectional Tournament semifinals last night. The host school was the No. 1 seed entering the game and they proved just that when they beat their opponents, 108-1.
Yes, you did read that correctly and no, it wasn’t a typo.
The win is another in a storied history of embarrassing blowouts in girls high school basketball. Clovis West beat fellow California high school program Rivera-Los Angelese 114-9 in January this year.
In January 2015, the San Bernardino Arroyo Valley’s girl’s basketball team beat Bloomington by a final score of 161-2. This recent string of bad blowouts began in Texas in 2009 when Covenant School beat Dallas Academy, 100-0, for which head coach Micah Grimes was fired.
