While you are a college athlete, you are not allowed to openly support a political candidate under NCAA rules. You can vote for whoever you want, but you aren’t able to support them.
So, when these athletes are out of school, some of them like to openly show their support for political candidates. Last week, former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd spoke at a John Kasich presidential rally in South Carolina and former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw will follow in his footsteps at a Marco Rubio rally.
Calling Shaw a “USC football legend” has been debated pretty heavily on Twitter, but some Gamecock fans will likely appreciate it. I’m sure Shaw will be happy to hype up the fans at the rally on Thursday.
