Duke G Matt Jones out Saturday against Louisville

On Wednesday, the Duke Blue Devils suffered a big blow when junior guard Matt Jones went down with what appeared to be a sprained ankle against North Carolina early in the first half. He did not play the rest of the game, but his team somehow pulled off the upset.

The Blue Devils have won five straight games and look to keep their winning ways going when they hit the road to play the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday. It was reported by SI’s Brian Hamilton that Jones will miss the game with a high ankle sprain.

Jones has been a big time player for the Blue Devils especially in the absence of forward Amile Jefferson, who has not played since injuring his ankle in practice in late November. Jones has averaged 11.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game this year.

Jones is also third on the team in free throw percentage, going 70 percent from the line so far. The Blue Devils are getting hot at the right time as they are just a game behind North Carolina and Miami for first place in the ACC.

With a win on Saturday, they would inch closer to the top of the ACC and help themselves out when it comes to their seeding in the conference tournament. The Blue Devils and Cardinals hit the court at 12 p.m. EST on ESPN.
