Howie Dickenman has been the head coach of the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils for the last 20 years and has led them to a good bit of success, winning the Northeast Conference regular season and tournament titles three times.
The Blue Devils will apparently be on the lookout for a new coach in the very near future. Dickenman announced Thursday night after their upset win over Mount St. Mary’s that he would retire following the season.
Dickenman has a career record of 282-308 with the Blue Devils, but from 2000-2007, he helped lead the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances. He had a record of 146-91 during those seven years and won those three conference championships during the stretch.
He will certainly be missed in New Britain as he will go down as one of the best basketball coaches the Northeast Conference has ever known.
