John Cena named honorary pace car driver at Daytona 500

WWE is getting ready for their big pay-per-view event Fastlane later on tonight. Before that happens, however, many fans will get to experience the Daytona 500.

It’s pretty appropriate that tonight’s WWE event is a race car theme as they are on the Road to Wrestlemania. WWE superstar John Cena is actually in Daytona for the big race today as he has been named the honorary pace car driver for the big race.

Cena is an avid racing fan and has even shown off his love for cars on WWE. He sped into Ford Field at Wrestlemania 23 in a Ford Mustang and it was pretty cool.

He has served in a role at Daytona 500 in the past as he was the honorary starter at the race in 2012. He also finished third at the “Fast Cars and Superstars – The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race” where he was coached by former Raw guest host Carl Edward and has starred in a commercial with NASCAR drivers Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin and Clint Bowyer.

It should be a fun day for everyone as Cena takes to the track in Florida. The race will broadcast on FOX at 1 p.m. EST.
