Rafael dos Anjos pulls out of UFC 196 main event

It looks like Conor McGregor will be facing off against a different name at UFC 196 in early March. According to multiple reports, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has pulled out of his main event title defense against McGregor.

Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting originally reported the news, and further information explains dos Anjos broke his foot and won’t be able to compete for some time. It will be at least three weeks until dos Anjos is able to put weight on his foot.

The UFC is now in the middle of a scramble to find a replacement for McGregor.

McGregor, the featherweight champion, was set to face off against dos Anjos for the lightweight championship. The two were scheduled to fight in the main event of UFC 196 on March 5.

McGregor was looking to win the fight and become the first dual champion in UFC history.
